From full-service to cost-effective self-publishing solutions
Whilst our origins are in full-service production services, our passion for technology has seen us evolve into a technology-led solutions business. So whether you are looking to fully outource your production work, or are looking for a platform to help you self-publish, Deanta has a solution for you.
Simple solutions for a complex world
Deanta has developed technologies to support a diverse array of publishers producing the full range of content types. Whether you’re working on journals, books, collections, or pre-print servers, Deanta has the expertise to support your specific requirements.
Transformative book production
Lanstad’s books module offers the same AI-powered ingestion and XML conversion features as our journals module, but embedded indexing, LaTeX editing and password-free author access take the employee and author experience to the next level.
Human error and version control issues are all but eradicated, whilst a host of automated features simplify the production process.
The entire workflow is driven by the Milestones module which, through task-based actions, allows permission-based stakeholders to edit content and monitor overall progress.
Simplification and speed through automation
Lanstad’s journals module brings true automation to the journals production workflow.
Our ingestion engine can import Word files directly from third-party submission systems before converting to XML and creating a typeset PDF. Our AI tools then perform citation validations and offer best-in-class spelling and grammar checks.
Automated graphic conversion and smart copyediting allow for speedy proofing whilst our LaTeX normalisation engine allows complex math to be managed within a user-friendly environment. The entire workflow is driven by the Milestones module which, through task-based actions, allows permission-based stakeholders to edit content and monitor overall progress. Finally, our article and issue management functions support the delivery process.
A bespoke module for non-bespoke work
Some technologies try and crow-bar book projects into journal workflows, or vice versa. Deanta has not only built distinct modules for those formats, but has also developed a module for projects which fall outside of those categories.
In our Collection module, chapters are treated as standalone items but can be put together in volumes as needed. This is an area where xml first is really important because the chapters are often taken and used as individual products or put into more than one volume.
LaTeX simplified
LaTeX is known for it’s ability to create high quality typography for mathematical equations, symbols and formulas, but for publishers using Word-based workflows, LaTeX requires a cumbersome conversion processes prior to editing and typesetting.
Lanstad’s LaTeX normalization engine solves this by converting LaTeX directly to XML. This preserves LaTeX’s typographic benefits while enabling seamless management in an XML-first environment.
Create and automatically update indexes at any stage of the production process
Easy to build and editable via a simple interface, operators can choose, main entries, sub entries, bookmarks and cross references.
Each index is fully customisable with style choices across alphabetization, punctuation and layout and, since each index auto-updates as the pagination changes, the index can be built at any stage.
Unlock your team’s potential
Licensing Lanstad, allows publishers to fully control their own production workflows using their own preferred network of freelancers and their internal teams.
Lanstad’s artificial intelligence, machine learning, and automation help publishers to build capacity without adding to headcount, save costs, become more flexible, and produce future-ready content. All whilst greatly enhancing the employee and author experience.
Lanstad’s automated workflows allows publishers to accelerate OA projects and boost capacity without compromising quality, or incurring additional costs.
Fast, reliable, workflows where authors are customers
With 75% of publishers saying OA work is on the increase, but with fewer than one in four production teams seeing their number grow, publishers are looking for ways to build capacity without adding cost or headcount.
